Received electric razor and overalls from home.

Receiving gifts from home must have been exciting wether they were requested or not. I wonder if Merton was able to send anything back to home from Greenland.

I found an archive this week of newspapers from Cape Cod. The Chatham Cronicle to be exact. [Link Pending.] In a cursory search for Merton, I found a handful of articles with the name attached.

One of the articles in particular from December 1941 mentions that ‘Mrs Merton Young and her Son and Daughter will spend Christmas in Waltham. Merton is still in Trinidad.’

I hope to find a similar article mentioning his time away in Greenland as well.

As always though I do need to spend more time with this archive to assure that it is My Grandfather Merton being referenced.

In 1943 and 1944,  my Grandfather Merton Young traveled to Greenland while working for the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Company.  He wrote a brief diary of his journey and this is a piece of that story.
